Father's Day card.

It will be Father's Day in Australia in a few weeks time, so thought I'd better get busy with making some masculine cards!

I used the 2 Sketches 4 You - Laura's sketch #31 for my card. The patterned paper is by Heidi Grace, 'Happy' stamp is also Heidi Grace and 'Father's Day' stamp is by Stamp-It.



Cardstock is Stampin' Up, also used Nestabilities dies, ric-rac, raffia and buttons.

CPS Challenge #126

Here is my card for this week's CPS Sketch Challenge #126! It's just a quick card using a Stamping Bella stamp, coloured with markers and dye re-inkers. Used some Cuttlebug embossing folders and added some flowers.

Cuttlebug Challenge - Be Inspired #41

Well, finally I've finished Cuttlebug Challenge Be Inspired #41! I've fiddled around with the flower placement long enough, so Ta Da.......here it is!



This was the challenge:-
We challenge you our fantastic readers to create altered projects from items in your recycle bin, containers to books the sky is the limit.
Your bonus folder for this week is the textile folder from Provo Craft.


I am such a hoarder I never throw anything away, and I'm constantly fossicking around flea markets to find bits and pieces that can be used in my art.

These are my recycled/re-purposed items:
The green paper and raffia twine are both from a bunch of flowers (I layered the paper onto some heavier cardstock before stamping and cutting with a Nesties Label 1 die.)
The music paper is from some old sheet music scavenged from a flea market.
Mauve tissue paper from some old gift wrapping.
Mauve organza ribbon saved from gift packaging.
Lastly, the buttons are from my Mother's old button tin.

I used the bonus Textile folder as my background piece with some mauve cardstock.

Stamp credits:Bird on a branch by Prima, Scalloped border stamp by Kelly Panaci, Greeting and flower rhinestones by Hero Arts.

Tip: For punching through thin paper or tissue, sandwich it between 2 pieces of scrap copy paper first.

The Sky's the Limit!

This card is a two-fer......in other words, I've made this card with 2 challenges in mind! The first challenge is a sketch challenge for Whimsie Doodles. You needed to use one of Whimsie Doodles digital stamps, which I've done. Both the turtle stamp and the greeting are Whimsie Doodle digital stamps, and I've taken a few liberties with the sketch so it very loosely resembles it!

The 2nd challenge is for The Pink Elephant blog challenge #24, which was to use ANIMALS as the theme.

I used markers to colour the image and a Spica gel glitter pen on the balloons and hat (hard to see!). The patterned paper is by Heidi Grace, and cardstock is Stampin' Up. I also used an Out of the Box technique for the image.

CPS Challenge #125

I might be a bit late with my card for CPS Challenge #125, but here it is!

I used papers and clear stamps from the new Kaisercraft Pennyroyale range, Kaiser rhinestones, Bazzil and Stampin' Up cardstock, and the word stamp is by Christina Re.

Lady Luck!

The July challenge at Inkurable Stampers is to create something using playing cards, either as one of your materials or as inspiration, and to use at least one stamp.

The card I've made is not one of my usual Oriental cards, but it's more of a Good Luck card with an Oriental flavour! My main image is from a Chinese deck of playing cards, all are different images. The deck features images from Chinese calendars from the 1920's and 1930's. I chose this one with the horse and jockey being led by a lovely Chinese lady...I thought she depicted Lady Luck!



I stamped the diamond background stamp (by Stamps Happen) onto Stampin' Up Creamy Caramel cardstock using Creamy Caramel ink. For the Good Luck greeting I used Justrite Stamper Times New Roman font and Triomphe font - it reads 'May lady luck smile upon you!' and 'Good Luck!' in the centre of the circle.

I also added some teeny playing cards and 3 chinese good luck coins to keep the theme going.

FYI: Feng Shui teaches that 3 coins tied together with auspicious red ribbon is a powerful symbol that brings prosperity and abundance. The act of giving good luck coins spreads happiness and good luck to those who receive them.

Many people keep the good luck coins in their wallets/purses encouraging wealthier prosperity. Others hang the lucky coins from the inside of the door, symbolising that prosperity has entered the house.

OSA Kokeshi Doll Swap

This is the swap card I made for the OSA Kokeshi Bobasheely Swap. We were sent a Kokeshi doll image, provided by About Art Accents ,to use for the swap. I paper pieced the kimono on my image, coloured her face with a white pencil and used markers for the rest of her. I chose a colour combination to match the washi yuzen paper. The friend symbol stamp is by Pink Cat Studio, I used Brilliance Crimson Copper ink to stamp it and also to highlight the Swiss Dots embossing on the burgundy panel (bit hard to see because of the coppery shimmer!).

My beautiful little grand-daughter, Annika, had her 1st birthday yesterday! That year has just flown by! Here she is opening some of her many birthday presents!

Cuttlebug Challenge - Be Inspired #40

The Cuttlebug Challenge - Be Inspired #40 was a sketch challenge this week, and the bonus folder to use was the Textile one. I thought an elegant card was just the thing for the Textile embossing folder, so I've made a wedding card!

I've used red and black cardstock, white shimmery paper (all by Pedigree Paper)and a soft grey flowery DP by EK Success - it looks a bit paler in the photo than it is in real life. Also used Labels 4 and Curved Rectangles Nestabilities dies, red organza ribbon (recycled from some gift packaging, Martha Stewart rhinestones (from a Cuttlebug Challenge Blog prize!) and Kaiser pearls - the pearls are all white, even though the one's on the left look red from the organza ribbon over them! The greeting is from a Christina Re clear stamp set.
