Twinkling Geisha Card.

This card uses the Pencilled Twinks Technique from the Feb 2008 issue of The Technique Junkie Newsletter. The stamp from a Pink Cat Studio unmounted Oriental sheet. The background piece is orange paper sprayed with black Webbing Spray. I've layered both the stamped piece and the background onto black cardstock. The stamped piece is adhered with foam dimensional dots. I've added 3 silver square brads to the bottom, and a metal hanger and brad to the top tied with a scrap of ribbon. The webbed background is layered on foam dimensional dots too, and adhered to a red card.

I was just checking the link to Pink Cat Studio and discovered 2 of my cards are displayed there! I sent them in ages ago for Melissa's gallery ..............how cool is that?

May Challenge for Inkurable Stampers.

The theme for this month at Inkurable Stampers is "Women" so I decided to try a vintage card using this gorgeous Stamp-It stamp called Charlotte. I love this stamp but don't often get an opportunity to use it!

For the background paper I used a sheet of old music paper (another flea-market find), and gessoed the paper and used Tim Holtz China Blue distress ink over it - I think I may have overdone the gesso though as the music paper doesn't really show through.........you may get a better view if you click on the photo for a larger view.

I coloured Charlotte's shawl with Tim Holtz Aged Mahogany distress ink and glued a little ribbon rose to the centre of it. I tore around the edges of the paper and inked the edges with Antique Linen distress ink. I've glued this piece to some Collections 'French Wallpaper' patterned paper, then sewn this to a burgundy card. I also sewn a piece of lace, inked with Antique Linen distress ink, down the side.

I've also added some Collections words, popped onto dimensional dots, some flowers, more lace and a button sewn on with embroidery thread.

I put more dimensional dots on the back of the burgundy card and stuck it to a beige folded square card.

Beachy themed card.

This is a card that I've made for my Dad's birthday next week. It's called a Z-fold card, which is a technique from the Technique Junkie Newsletter from the Aug/Sept 2007 issue. I've used beachy colours of blue and sand for this card. I used my oval Nestabilities for the lighthouse stamped piece. The 'Dad' is a little ceramic piece - think it's called a style stone, I got it from my LSS they told me somebody handmakes them for them.

Materials used:
Stamps: lighthouse is by The Old Island Stamp Company, larger bird is by Ink and The Dog, Swirl is by Autumn Leaves - Elegant Flourishes, greeting is by Wendy Irving Clear Expressions.
Ink: Archival Cobalt Blue.
Bazzil card - blue and sand colours.
Nestabilities ovals.
Cuttlebug - 'From the Sea' diecuts.

Patterned paper - sorry don't remember the brands I used.
Ribbon, button, scraps of blue and cream card for cuttlebug diecuts.

Puzzle Piece - 2

.............OK, I'm back again with the 2nd giant puzzle piece. For this one I've used patterned paper by Foofala, again I've sanded lightly around the edges. The stamped words are again by The Darkroom Door, I've inked around the words with Black Soot Distress Ink. I'm not sure who the blue paper flower is by, but I got it at ScrapsaDaisy. I've been dying to use these black glitter bird and flower stickers..............thought this was the perfect project for them - they are from a pack by Sticker Cafe............sold from good old KMart! I've added blue Kaiser gems to the flower centres and the bird's eye.

Giant Puzzle Pieces

I was asked by a friend if I would help out in a swap that hadn't quite gone to plan where one of the participants had missed out on getting her puzzle back. My friend very kindly organized for 3 of us to do 2 pieces each - there were a total of 6 pieces in the puzzle. I was only too happy to help out.......... I hadn't been in the original swap, but after completing these 2 pieces I wish that I had joined it..............oh well!

For the 1st piece I've used Basic Grey paper and sanded around the edges to show a little white.
All of the stamps I've used are by The Darkroom Door, the blue foam flower is from a KMart pack, the gold butterfly is a bead, which I've threaded with some fine gold wire to give it some feelers. The large red butterfly, which has a little mirrored butterfly on top, was a flea market find...............it was originally a brooch - I just cut off the pin from the back!

Moonlight Tiger Card

This is another card using the same Art Neko stamp as the previous post. The background for the stamp was the scratch paper that I used for another technique using liquid watercolours dripped onto baby wipes - just goes to show you should never throw anything out! I used a torn edge ruler to distress around the edges of the paper.

The metallic blue background is a handmade paper, the other card is a royal blue unbranded. I've stamped the Wendy Irving Expressions greeting onto an oval piece of chipboard. I inked up the chipboard with Whispers Azure Seas ink...........it was a bit too dark to stamp on, so I lightened it up with some SU white craft ink. I stamped the greeting with Whispers Royal Blue ink and also sponged around the edges with the same ink. I've then given it a coat of Dimensional Magic to make it nice and shiny.

Twinkling Tiger Card.

This card was for a challenge to do a monochromatic card over on The Scrappers Stash forum. I did a heap of these Twinkling H2O backgrounds ages ago, and the colours went quite well with the Bazzill colours that I chose.

To do the background I used a smooth watercolour paper and just gave it a wet wash with 2 or 3 Twinkling H2O watercolours - I'm not quite sure which colours I used........ I did have a little post-it on the back of each sheet with the info, but it had come off. The smooth watercolour paper gives a good impression of the stamped image.

I didn't have any ribbon in the right shade, so I've just used an off-cut from the watercoloured paper and put it on a strip of Bazzill.

The tiger stamp is by Art Neko from The Year of the Tiger sheet.

Isn't this just the cutest thing you've seen?

I participated in an image swap recently over at The Scrappers Stash, and the hostess Virginia (AKA Wirg) kindly sent us all a heap of House Mouse images. She then challenged us to use one of the images and make it into a card and upload it to the gallery. For those of us who took up the challenge, Wirg has sent us a little thank you gift - pictured below. The little tag features a House Mouse image, using part of the 'Throwing Daisy Petals' stamp on the front, and my name is on the back.



Pictured below is the card that I made for the challenge, I coloured my image using the Gamsol Magic technique with Prismacolor pencils. Thanks so much Wirg for your wonderful generosity!

Aged Trees Card

This card uses a technique from the current April/May 2008 Technique Junkies Newsletter called the Aged Tiles Technique. It's just a basic design card with cardstock layers and chocolate brown brads added for interest.

Stamp used - from Stampin Up Lovely as a Tree set.
Cardstock - beige and chocolate brown, green handmade paper.
Inks - Versafine Vintage Sepia, Tim Holtz Distress Ink - Shabby Shutters.

Picture to Page 2008

I went to the Picture to Page show on Saturday in Melbourne.......it seems to be getting bigger and better each year! Had a great time there and met up with my friend Sandie, and Vicky, who I hadn't met in person before, but 'knew' online from The Scrappers Stash forum. Here's a photo of us all that Sandie's kids took - from L - R that's Sandie, Vicky and me!

.........and yep!............that's my stash of goodies that I purchased there!

Well, I only added some chocolate brown grosgrain ribbon to my collection......... errr, I really wasn't going to buy any more flowers ....... but, what can I say! Also got some great Collections chipboard birds, owls and branches, as well as nice 6" x 6" papers...............and of course I had to get some more stamps! Got some more fabulous Darkroom Door stamps, Inque Boutique small unmounteds and a Will 'n Way clear set of words and word balloons.
