Dragonfly Card

This is yet another card featuring the Burnt Edges Technique from the Feb 2007 Technique Junkies Newsletter................OK, I confess it's still my current favourite technique!
I've used a dragonfly stamp from The Darkroom Door Wildflower Essentials Collection, stamped using Versafine black ink and I've highlighted the wings with Kindyglitz.
The background paper is from Liz Zed Creations - this paper is just gorgeous and the photo probably doesn't do it justice. It is black and marbled through with gold, blue and burgundy shades. I've been hoarding these papers for ages, but thought it was about time I put them to use!
I've finished the card with some narrow green grosgrain ribbon, a metal name-plate and green brads. The birthday greeting is a clear stamp from Wendy Irving Expressions "Occasions" set. All other paper and card layers are from Pedigree Paper.
Thanks for stopping by my blog!

OSA Asian Scenery Swap - Returns

These are the return cards I received from the OSA Asian Scenery Swap that I took part in recently. This was my card

The 1st one is by Bonnie B. and features Mt Fuji. Bonnie did a lovely job in colouring this image!

The 2nd one is by Kathy M. it almost looks like a Willow Pattern Plate coloured in shades of blue. Beautiful!

The 3rd one is from Chryss W. Chryss has used an octagonal shaped card and the image in the centre is raised on dimensional foam tape. Very unusal card!

Blue Stitched Card.

I used up some pieces I had lying around for this card. The stamped piece had been in my box of pre-stamped images for a while. The background is made using Hero Arts Aged Background Block stamp, using Hero Arts Shadow Ink in a green shade (cant quite remember which shade of green I used) and the leafy stamp is from See-D's Silhouettes set, using black Versafine ink. I've also added a birthday greeting by Wendy Irving Expressions (clear stamp). I distressed around the edges of the finished piece, then layered it onto a burgundy layer.
For the rest of the card I started with a leftover piece of blue handmade paper that I used for my butterfly card, I distressed around the edges, then did 2 rows of stitching onto a larger piece of burgundy card with my trusty sewing machine. I haven't done a lot of sewing on my cards, but I do like the effect produced! I must say though, that not sewing in a straight line goes totally against all the years that I spent sewing clothes and trying to keep a straight line! I added a spiral clip and ribbon to the stamped piece and layered it on top of the blue stitched piece and the whole lot onto a folded white card.
I like how this card turned out.............hope you do too!

Bird Cards.

Finally, I have my new circle and scalloped circle Nestabilities! I ordered them nearly 2 months ago so it's been quite a wait for them to arrive!
I had a bit of a play with them today and made these 2 bird cards. The 1st one features a laser-cut felt bird with a pale blue brad for an eye. The only stamp on this is the "happy bird-day", which is a Stampin' Up stamp. I masked the "th" and just added the "d" in my own dreadful handwriting.......think I should've used an alpha letter stamp instead! I'm not sure who the red patterned paper is by........I've had it in my stash for ages - it was already distressed, I didn't add anything to it. I just inked the edges of the dark blue cardstock with Alabaster Cat's Eye Chalk Ink.
I've also added 2 layers of ribbon, a Prima flower and brad.

The 2nd card is in my current favourite colours of Pink Pedigree Paper and Mocha Bazzil. I've used my Cuttlebug Swiss Dots Embossing Folder for the background piece.
Stamps used are by Autumn Leaves- Swirly Frame, Stampin' Up - greeting, and October Afternoon - bird.
I layered the frame onto the nestability circle and scalloped circle, and just added some brown velvet ribbon.
Bye for now,
Lyn

Ribbon Storage.

I'm a bit of a ribbon addict and my collection just keeps on growing! I found that I had my ribbons stored in about 6 different locations in my craft room and it just wasn't very practical. Well, all that has changed since I discovered this great tutorial for ribbon holder tags on Di Hickman's blog - check it out here.

I'm happy to say that it hasn't cost me a cent! I used the recycled acrylic packages from my Cuttlebug folders, some scraps of cardboard and I already had some metal rings, so I didn't even have to buy those. I used the cardboard holder tags for the thin organza type ribbons and the clear acrylic holder tags for all the others. I think I may have to do some more of these to store my lace pieces on too. I'll probably need to make a wider template for some of the lace, but that will be easy enough to do.

I've even cut 1 metre lengths from my ribbon rolls, so I have all my ribbons stored together and the rolls are put away in the cupboard. Now that I can see how much ribbon I have, I really must stop buying more and actually use some of my stash up!

For my shorter scraps of ribbon, I'm storing them in this Kaiser ribbon box that I decorated last year. It's the perfect size for that, and I can check out what's there first, before using the longer pieces............well that's the theory anyway!
Now, I just need to decide where to put some hooks to hang all the rings off!
Hope you found this useful..........I know I did, so thank you Di!
Byeee!!!

Asian Scenery Swap.

This is a card I did for the Asian Scenery Swap on my OSA group.

I used an image from Art Neko stamps, which I've stamped onto white card using black Staz-On ink. I've then coloured the image with chalks. I like the subtle colour that the chalks give to the image, and I use little eye-shadow sponge applicators to get the colour just where I want it.

I've layered the stamped piece onto aqua, then turquoise coloured cardstock, punched the corners of the turquoise card, then wrapped a metallic thread around the whole card. I've layered this to another aqua card, then adhered it all to a beige coloured folded card.

Thanks for looking.

Butterfly Card

This is a card that I have done for a new Aussie challenge blog called Inkurable Stampers ..........love the name, and definitely applies to me LOL! This particular challenge just requires you to use 'wings' somewhere on your project, and to use at least one stamp.
I've used the new stamps that I got from the Paperific show a few weeks ago - they are from the Wildflower Essentials collection by The Darkroom Door, the word greeting is by Heidi Grace. My background for the stamped piece is called the Burnt Edges Technique from the Feb 2007 Technique Junkies Newsletter - I really do love this technique! I stamped the butterfly onto a fairly stiff orange vellum and embossed it with black embossing powder, then cut around it. I rubbed the back of the wings with an embossing stylus to get the raised wing effect - just placed it on an old foam mouse mat first, and then glued just the body of the butterfly to my card. The blue background piece is a purchased hand made canvas paper.
I made this card for my DH for our 34th wedding anniversary today!.......................and yes, he forgot it.................again! He did like the card though. Thanks for looking.

OSA Hanafuda Swap

First of all, my apologies for not posting anything new for a while. I haven't been totally idle though, it's taken me a while, but I've finally finished these cards I made for the Hanafuda Swap on OSA.

What's a Hanafuda you ask? Well it's a japanese card game using 48 cards that are divided into 12 suits, with each suit of 4 representing a month of the year. We were each given 4 stamps (one suit) to use, kindly donated by About Art Accents stamps. The stamps I was given represented June and featured the Peony flower, I might add that each month features a different flower or plant depicting the season it represents.

Now, onto my card! I decided to make the gated tag card that was featured in the Feb/Mar 2008 Technique Junkie newsletter. On the front of the card I've used stamped one of the images onto black shrink plastic using Galaxy Gold Brilliance Ink, I've also stamped 'Good Luck' from a See-D's set - I figured that was appropriate seeing that Hanafuda was a card game!
The 2nd picture shows the inside of the card. I've stamped each of the four images onto a cream tag and coloured them with markers. Thanks for looking!

I just heard this...............

I've just been watching a documentary on TV featuring pensioners selling their homes and buying motor homes to go travelling. Well one dear lady was saying that when you get old you get CRAFT's disease...............................no, it isn't what you think!

She said it means

Can't
Remember
An
eFFing
Thing

Too funny!

ATC swap.........and I've been tagged!!

This is an ATC swap that I was in recently at the Scrapper's Stash forum. The title of the swap was 'Dreams'. My ATC is the top left one. I used a Lynn Perrella Stampington stamp, the background is a Technique Junkies Technicolor Dye Ink background tech. I've also used German Scrap and a tiny Collections scrabble 'dream' word.

My friend Sandie has tagged me!! Arrgh! O.K Here are the rules:1. Link to the person that tagged you and leave a comment on their Blog.2. Post the rules on your Blog.3. Share 7 random facts about yourself on your Blog4. Tag 7 random people , linking to their Blog. Let each person know by leaving a comment on their Blog.

OK, here's 7 random facts about me.

1. I'm left-handed.

2. I'm the mother of identical twin girls, who are now aged 33. Neither my DH or I have any family history of twins, so we're still wondering how that happened. It was great though, they always had each other for company, and I got my family with only having to go through one pregnancy.................we were never quite game to try a 2nd time.

3. I'm terrified of heights and spiders! I have flown in a plane, but I can't look out the window when we take off............I also suffer from motion sickness which doesn't help. As for spiders....I cant' go to bed if I see a spider inside the house, until DH has removed it. If he's not there to do it, I have to do it myself, but it really freaks me out!

4. I'm a bit of a sports nut. I love AFL footy...........my team is Richmond, a bit tragic at the moment 'cos there not very good, but I do remember the glory days of the '60's and '70's. Also love tennis and cycling, and the Olympics when they're on.

5. I spent the first 40 years of my life in Bendigo, a large country town in central Victoria (Australia). I thought I would always live there, but 11 years ago we moved to the big city of Melbourne. I enjoy living here, but the traffic still freaks me out!

6. I'm going to become a grandmother later this year!

7. I'm normally a very quiet, shy, private person and I can't believe I'm telling you all this stuff about me!

OK, that's it! Now, I'm supposed to tag 7 other people, but I'm going to take the cheat's way out 'cos I can't think of 7 people who haven't already been tagged...............so if you're reading this, consider yourself tagged.
